The Lincoln Highway, 1917:
Back when most of us weren't born or were just wee babes,
Will Whittemore, his wife and a Mrs. Servis traveled by
Model T from Nebraska to California on the then-dirt Lincoln
Highway. The Lincoln, of course, was America's first
coast-to-coast highway. If you think a roadtrip today in our
comfy RVs is a bit of an adventure. . . well, it pales by
